It's the day after Super Bowl XL and I'm sure there are a lot of headaches around the world, especially in Pittsburgh. It wasn't the most exciting game in Super Bowl history, but there were lots of new commercials and advertising campaigns to keep us entertained.

What was your favorite Super Bowl commercial? Was it the Jessica Simpson Pizza Hut commercial or one of the many Budweiser commercials? Budweiser always opens up their checkbook for the Super Bowl and this year was no exception. I counted at least 10 commercials during the game at $2.5 million a pop. Obviously they've done their homework and see the value in Super Bowl advertising. The game is broadcast to over 230 countries around the world with hundreds of millions of viewers.
As I mentioned in yesterday's blog, piggy back marketing is a fantastic way to leverage the millions of dollars spent by others to promote your business. Take advantage of the buzz they create for every event and holiday. Notice the ads today in the newspaper. They'll play up the Super Bowl with a "day after" closeout event to clear out all Super Bowl related merchandise and tomorrow we're on to Valentines Day.
How can you create a promotion for your business centered on a Valentine's Day theme? You don't to sell greeting cards or candy in your business to take advantage of the Valentine's Day buzz. Be creative and package your services in a Valentine's Day special. Create an ad with a picture of you and your significant other in a heart advertising your special. Some of the corniest ads are the best ads and get tremendous results. Take a look in your local newspaper and notice how many businesses create Valentine's Day events.
